ELA Taverna

We were drawn to Ela Taverna by the glowing recommendations from locals and other travelers. The ambiance of the restaurant, set in the picturesque streets of Chania’s Old Town, added to its appeal. The outdoor seating, covered by lush vines and illuminated by soft lights, created a romantic and cozy atmosphere that made our dining experience memorable.

Our meal began with a traditional Greek salad, bursting with fresh flavors and vibrant colors. The highlight of our meal was the vegetarian moussaka, which was the best we had ever tasted. It was so popular that we were advised to arrive by 6 pm to ensure we could enjoy it. The seafood dishes were also exceptional, particularly the grilled sea bream and octopus, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned.

The service at Ela Taverna was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to answer our questions with a smile. Despite the restaurant being busy, they managed to find a table for us each night we visited. Their recommendations, especially for the brownie cake with black chocolate topping, were spot on.

One of the most touching moments was when a staff member helped one of our party navigate the stairs, demonstrating the genuine care and hospitality that makes Ela Taverna stand out. This personal touch, combined with the delicious food and beautiful setting, made each visit special.

Ela Taverna also offers a lovely selection of wines, which complemented our meals perfectly. The house wine was delightful, and the complimentary fruit and liqueur at the end of our meals were a pleasant surprise.
